Short Order Poetry

Short Order Poetry is a fun, immersive, authentic, truly bespoke process of co-creation that engages both on the individual and group level - transforming thoughts, reflections, experiences, stories, and questions into beautiful and profound pieces of art that are given as gifts. Through synthesis, those individual experiences are put into context with one another to offer a view of the whole, and create a meaningful artifact to honor and anchor a happening in its participants' memories.

The Process
01
Learning the Story
Poets invite attendees into 1:1 Conversations to discuss their experiences, feelings, and perspectives. Using deep and empathetic listening techniques, poets offer an opportunity for reflection—to check in with their thoughts and share what is important.
03
Giving the Gift
When the poem is finished, it is hung on a line alongside other completed works waiting to be retrieved. The poems are a gift—the exchange between poet and recipient is one of ideas, attention, and empathy. The poem is an artifact and keepsake of the time and place where it was made, and the conversation it is made of.
02
Writing the Poem
Using manual typewriters, poets create one-of-a-kind poems to reflect what they've heard in a new and beautiful way. Their goal is to authentically explore and honor the perspective, story, and experience of the person for whom they are written.
04
Synthesizing the Collection
At the convening's end, poets work together to create a new work of synthesis representing the full experience. Borrowing lines and images from individual poems, and applying them to themes and ideas that exist across the collection—a new poem is offered that embodies the spirit of the gathering itself.
We work with...

Organizations
We partner with companies, foundations, and institutions to bring genuine human connection to conferences, retreats, workshops, and networking events.

Communities
We show up where people gather — festivals, celebrations, block parties, and public conversations.

Families
We write for weddings, reunions, and private celebrations. Every poem becomes a keepsake of the gathering — a record of what your people were feeling, thinking, and carrying with them on that particular night.
